Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta's Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Fadil Imran received 70 thousand cans of fish collected by entrepreneurs for residents.

During the "Metro Jaya Police Care" event at JIExpo Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, Friday, in addition to 70 thousand cans of processed fish products, the police chief also received five thousand food packages to help the community, especially in Jakarta.

"Seventy thousand cans is equivalent to 70 tons of skipjack tuna. I hope these sardines and tuna can increase people's immunity, especially since they have also been vaccinated," Imran remarked here on Friday.

The assistance was organized through a collaboration between the Purse Seine Nusantara Fishermen Association (HNPN) and the Muara Baru Fishery Club, he informed. In addition, J99 Corp provided basic food assistance and PT. Electric Vehicle Indonesia provided units of vehicles to distribute the aid, he said.

HNPN head James Then said the 70 thousand cans of processed fish consisted of processed skipjack tuna, sardines, and tuna products.

"In this pandemic condition, I gathered fisheries business actors, especially in Muara Baru, to help independently. Even though the current conditions are difficult, we also have to help others," he remarked.

Meanwhile, the CEO of J99 Corp, Gilang Widya Pramana, said he directly bought the food packages from Malang, East Java.

"We provided five thousand food packages consisting of rice, cooking oil, and others. We brought them directly from Malang," he informed.

The police chief lauded the assistance from entrepreneurs and described it as an act of mutual cooperation (gotong royong) in helping the community during the pandemic.

"I think that we can overcome all these difficulties and manage to make Indonesia the number 6 country in balancing the economy and the pandemic because of this (mutual cooperation)," he remarked.
