In our neighboring countries, Malaysia even Singapore currently are again experiencing the surge in COVID-19 cases due to health protocol violations
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice Health Minister Dante Saksono Harbuwono has appealed to the public to continue observing health protocols so that Indonesia would not experience another surge in COVID-19 case.

“In our neighboring countries, such as Malaysia and even Singapore, they are currently experiencing the surge in COVID-19 cases due to violations of health protocols,” Harbuwono noted, during an online press conference to announce the 56th and 57th batches of vaccine arrivals here on Saturday.

Even though the number of active cases and the death toll due to COVID-19 has declined, and the ongoing vaccinations program is continuing very well, health protocols necessitate to be well-implemented, he added.

“Apart from following health protocols, do not forget to participate in the national vaccination program,” he added.

The ministry is requiring support from all public elements, so that no people are left behind in the national vaccination program, according to Harbuwono.

“Once again, do not hesitate to get vaccinated and stay disciplined in following health protocols. Insya Allah (God’s will) through mutual efforts of all stakeholders, we can get through this pandemic well,” he noted.

Based upon the COVID-19 Handling Task Force, as of Friday (September 10, 2021), a total of 40,867,993 Indonesian citizens have received two doses of the COVID vaccine. Meanwhile, as many as 71,175,259 citizens have received the first dose of the vaccine.

The government has targeted as many as 208,265,720 citizens in the vaccination program.

Harbuwono also urged the public to follow the policies that the government has issued for the common good.

“The policy of public activity restrictions (PPKM) currently being enforced aims at preventing Indonesia from again experiencing the surge in COVID-19 cases,” he noted.
