"The LPSK is authorised to provide immediate medical support to the victims after an act of terror," Suroyo stated.
Suroyo confirmed that the LPSK was currently communicating with officials to determine whether the attack in Kiwirok last Tuesday (Sept 14) was classified as an act of terror.
Suroyo stated that the designation of the Kiwirok attack as a terrorist incident would authorise the LPSK to provide medical support and assistance to the victims and witnesses of the incident. Apart from medical support, physical protection and psychological rehabilitation assistance are also available to the victims, he added.
The victims can also apply for compensation designated for victims of terror attacks by seeking the court's decision, Suroyo noted.

The Kiwirok attack victims, witnesses, and their relatives are still able to seek LPSK's assistance even if the authority then decided to not designate the attack as an act of terrorism, Suroyo stated.
The LPSK head expressed concern over the continuing violence in Papua that claimed innocent civilian lives and called on the authority to take necessary measures to ensure the safety of civilians in the region.
"Residents should be able to live in peace and safety and be free from the dangers of violence," Suroyo noted.
Earlier, an armed criminal group attacked the Kiwirok region in Pegunungan Bintang District last Tuesday. The criminals attacked health workers in the Kiwirok public health centre that claimed the life of one health worker and inflicted injuries to several others.
A border security task force personnel from the 403/WP Infantry Battalion sustained a minor injury during a gun fight with the Papuan terrorists who also torched the Kiwirok public health centre, public elementary school, and Papuan Regional Development Bank office.
