Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs' special staff, Rear Marshal Achmad
Sajili urged residents to be vigilant of possible radical movements in their surroundings and on social media.

"I am optimistic that you would promptly report to the authority when you see or know about some suspicious activities related to radical movements, particularly those supporting the Taliban," Sajili noted during a seminar on village education and development with national outlook broadcast on the LPPM UPR YouTube account, Wednesday.

He urged residents to promptly report radical movement activities that they knew of to allow the authority to swiftly reprimand the suspects distributing radicalism-related material and expressing support to the radicalism movement.

"Stern actions are needed, as we could not allow any radical movement to continue," Sajili stated.

Content published on social media platforms could motivate radical groups, particularly after the authority detected Indonesians' presence participating as fighters in the Afghan War and facilitating other Indonesians to join them, the special staff remarked.

"After the Taliban took over the Afghan government last August, we have detected some groups garnering support for the Taliban through WhatsApp chat broadcast messages," Sajili noted.

The Taliban's victory in Afghanistan could inspire radical groups elsewhere to commit acts to support the establishment of an Islamic state based on their interpretation of the religion.

"We could see that the Jamaah Ansharu Syariah group had earlier expressed their support to the Taliban's victory in Afghanistan and lauded it as a gateway for the establishment of an Islamic state," the special staff stated.

Sajili also urged residents to collaborate and take precautionary measures against possible radical movements supportive of the Taliban. Residents should engage in early detection and assessment and approach the splinter group to deter them from committing radical acts, he noted.
