Replacing Pancasila equals changing Indonesia. Let us instill Pancasila values in the public space and affirm the sacredness of Pancasila for the unity of the nation.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Some 15 textbooks containing the Pancasila ideology for teaching await President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi's) approval, according to the Agency for Pancasila Ideology (BPIP).

"The BPIP has completed 15 textbooks containing the Pancasila ideology modules for the kindergarten, elementary, secondary, and college levels," Director of Materials and Methods Standardization of the State Apparatus at BPIP Aris Heru Utomo stated when contacted by Antara here on Friday.

Utomo noted that the materials are ready to be taught and the textbooks are currently pending distribution, as the president's verification is awaited.

Completion of the 15 textbooks is an endeavor by the BPIP to disseminate information on the values of Pancasila to the younger generation through a formal approach, which is education.

Citing the BPIP's official page, some 120 experts from various fields and different religions were part of the team in creating the 15 books to teach about Pancasila.

Utomo explained that the material delivery structure will comprise 30-percent theory and 70-percent practice to learn Pancasila.

"We are striving to put into practice the values of Pancasila," he affirmed.

According to Utomo, Pancasila no longer faced the challenges like rebellions in the past.

However, today, Pancasila faces new challenges, such as radicalism, corruption, social justice inequality, and transnational ideology that are popular in the digital age.

The BPIP realizes that the younger generation is the largest component of Indonesia's population, and most of the members are active on social media.

Actualizing Pancasila values is an effort by the government through BPIP to protect the younger generation from exposure to transnational ideological values that develop in the digital era.

"Transnational ideology tends to increase and enter people's lives in many ways. Hence, the younger generation must understand and practice the values of Pancasila, so as not to be influenced," Utomo affirmed.

According to Utomo, the younger generation will be the successor to the nation's leadership. Hence, it is important for the government to prevent the younger generation from being swayed by ideologies that run counter to Pancasila.

"Replacing Pancasila equals changing Indonesia. Let us instill Pancasila values in the public space and affirm the sacredness of Pancasila for the unity of the nation," Utomo concluded.
