Post pandemic is a new era that we know as the digitalization eraJakarta (ANTARA) - Digitalization in the new normal era has become a golden opportunity for Indonesian youth to tap into entrepreneurship programs, Coordinating Economic Affairs Minister Airlangga Hartarto stated.
“Post pandemic is a new era that we know as the digitalization era. This era has great market potential. Young people, as future leaders, need to learn a lot from the COVID-19 situation. This is a golden opportunity," Hartarto noted in a statement received in Jakarta, Wednesday.
Hartarto urged the youth to partake in various activities, including vaccination and economic recovery activities through micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
The government has additionally prepared the micro loan (KUR) that can be used by young people to become entrepreneurs.
"Youth must actively engage in self-learning or learn continuously in order to adapt to new situations, jobs, and technological developments, so that economic activity will be productive and young people will become the backbone in the new economic era," the minister remarked.
Hartarto emphasized that the government was consistent in cooperating with all parties, both upstream and downstream, in handling the COVID-19 pandemic.
On October 4, the COVID-19 case count nationwide dropped to 31,054.
"The handling of COVID-19 through the public activity restrictions (PPKM) mechanism from upstream to downstream as well as centralized isolation along with hospital preparations and vaccinations are the keys to reducing cases," he affirmed.
According to the minister, a decline in the number of cases through the implementation of PPKM has opened up opportunities for again driving national economic recovery.
"The 3T measures (testing, tracing, and treatment) are also continuously being implemented as this can track epidemiologically those affected by COVID-19 and who is their close contact, so that we can curb the spread of COVID-19," Hartarto noted.
He further remarked that economic growth will depend on controlling the pandemic as well as through appropriate policy responses, including fiscal and monetary policies, to ensure a stronger recovery process.
The government continues to encourage job creation to reduce poverty and support those affected by layoffs.
"We are grateful that in the second quarter of 2021, the Indonesian economy grew by 7.07 percent (yoy). This proves that we can get out of recession, and it is estimated that at the end of the year, we can grow in the 3.7-4.5 percent range," Hartarto noted.
