Palangka Raya, Central Kaliman (ANTARA) - Palangka Raya Mayor Fairid Naparin has revealed that 95.46 percent of 13,023 COVID-19 patients in the capital of Central Kalimantan Province had fully recovered as of Thursday (Oct 7, 2021) but residents must continue to adhere to the health protocols.

"The total number of patients, who recovered from COVID-19 until yesterday, reached 12,432 after an additional 11 patients get recovered," he noted in Palangka Raya on Friday.

According to data provided by the Palangka Raya COVID-19 Task Force, 82 people, or 0.63 percent of the infected residents, are still undergoing treatment in the city.

Meanwhile, 509 people have died of COVID-19 in the city so far.

The data was collected from all parts of Palangka Raya City, including 30 villages within its jurisdiction, the task force noted. The increase recorded in the number of COVID-19 cases has been attributed to the government's concern and commitment to conducting tracing and tracking activities, according to officials.

The Palangka Raya city government, through the COVID-19 Task Force, has made several efforts to stem the spread of COVID-19 ranging from disseminating information, conducting early detection, and ensuring security in the case-handling process, the mayor noted.

The city government has also urged residents to follow health protocols to minimize the potential risk of the pandemic while emphasizing that the pandemic is unlikely to end anytime soon.

It has also imposed Level 3 community activity restrictions until October 18 to reinforce prevention and COVID-19 handling on a smaller scale.

The enforcement of micro-scale public activity restrictions has been effective in prevention, early detection, and implementation of health protocols, Naparin noted.

Naparin stressed that his administration will constantly seek public participation, down to the RT/RW (neighborhood and community) level, to suppress the spread of COVID-19.
