e will be committed as stipulated in our target, that women's leadership in state-owned enterprises reaches 25 percent by 2023
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The State-Owned Enterprises Ministry is committed to pushing for greater female leadership in state-owned enterprises and is aiming to have 25 percent women's leadership in SOEs by 2023, an official has said.

The ministry is also eyeing 10 percent youth leadership in SOEs by 2023, the ministry's Deputy for Human Resources and Information Technology Tedi Bharata, informed at an online press conference here on Monday.

"We will be committed as stipulated in our target, that women's leadership in state-owned enterprises reaches 25 percent by 2023," he said.

"Of course, we have (rolled out programs) to achieve these targets, one of which is a mentoring program for women and also programs that we are running; then the head of Srikandi BUMN, Mrs. Tina T. Kemala Intan, is currently working on a program with the World Bank for mentorship, " he informed.

Thus, the Ministry is not only working alone but also collaborating with other parties, including the World Bank to increase human resources in SOEs, Bharata said.

State-owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir has expressed a desire to see 15 percent of state-owned enterprises' top ranks filled with female leaders this year.

The minister said his ministry is encouraging more women to become leaders or bosses in state-owned companies.

The Ministry is motivating women to establish their existence as career women by creating Srikandi BUMN, he said. With the Srikandi BUMN, it is expected that there will be an increase in women's representation in leadership ranks to improve gender equality in the state-owned enterprises' environment, he added.

Thohir also lauded women for their strength as individuals performing multiple roles every day.

Recently, the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises and Plan Indonesia collaborated to host #GirlsTakeover, a campaign to commemorate the International Day of the Girl Child annually.

This year, the theme was gender equality or equity at work and youth leadership. Six finalists were chosen from around seven thousand girls who participated in the campaign. The finalists have been given the opportunity to take over leadership positions in the ministry and five state-owned enterprises.
