Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communications and Informatics underscored that implementation of 5G telecommunications services in Indonesia is designed to achieve the nation's goals of advancing public welfare and educating people.

"The implementation of 5G for our country is not only for prestige, but we will also use 5G as a tool to achieve the goals of this country," Director of Telecommunications from the Directorate General of Post and Information Technology, Ministry of Communication and Informatics, Ayu Widyasari, noted in a virtual event on Tuesday.

Widyasari remarked that 5G services are not only an increase in data transfer speeds as compared to the previous generation but are also able to open up the possibility of new services in applications that will drive productivity and the economy.

The 5G services also hold potential to become a determining factor for digital transformation in all sectors, supported by the three sectors of technology, people, and governance.

In the technology sector, the 5G network, artificial intelligence, the internet of things, cloud computing, and big data are viewed as revolutionizing digital transformation in Indonesia.

In connection with the human sector, the existence of a digital mindset, digital culture, abilities and competencies, as well as digital leadership will strengthen digital transformation in Indonesia.

"Those two sectors are supported by the third sector, specifically good governance, equipped by changes in business processes and business capital, information technology organizations, strategic approaches, and approaches to ecosystems, so the expected digital transformation in Indonesia will be completed," she remarked.

On the occasion, Widyasari pointed to five aspects that should be considered to facilitate the implementation of 5G network in Indonesia.

The five aspects are regulation, radio frequency spectrum, operating business model, supporting infrastructure both passive and active, and ecosystem of digital talent and equipment, she affirmed.
