"Every depot must have a clinic to check the health and fitness of the driver before working," Chairman of Commission B of the Jakarta DPRD Abdul Aziz said when contacted here on Wednesday.
Aziz also proposed that stickers showing the complaint number be placed inside buses so that passengers can report if an on-duty driver is not well or careless.
He said he conveyed these two recommendations in his clarification to the TransJakarta management in Cisarua Sub-district, Bogor.
Meanwhile, in a report to the head of the Jakarta Transportation Office, PT Transportasi Jakarta said that prevention and improvement efforts have been made following a recent collision involving two TransJakarta buses.
As per the report, the mitigation and improvement measures have included intensive checks for safety-related parts such as tires and brakes for a few weeks.

The company will also update standard operating procedures (SOP) to include measures such as checking drivers' health before they operate a bus, it stated.
Furthermore, it will improve device functions at the TransJakarta command center for quick communication with buses operating on the road, it added.
Earlier, two TransJakarta buses had collided around 8.45 a.m. on Monday (October 25, 2021). One of the buses (number BMP240), was hit by another bus (BMP211) from the back while it was picking up and dropping off passengers at the Cawang Ciliwung Bus Stop, East Jakarta.
The two buses involved in the accident were operationalized by PT Bianglala Metropolitan.
Two people died in the accident—the BMP240 bus driver and a passenger.
Thirty-one passengers suffered minor to severe injuries and were taken to Budi Asih Hospital, Polri Hospital, and MMC Hospital, while six others did not require any medical treatment, officials said.
