Science is a unique strength that has made humanity more powerful as compared to other creatures in managing and developing natural resources on this planetJakarta (ANTARA) - Some 2,179 students comprising 544 pupils from elementary school, 735 from junior high school, and 900 from senior high school, as well as their respective Islamic school counterparts participated in the National Science Competition (KSN) 2021.
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology's National Achievement Center held the KSN 2021 in the online format on November 7-13.
Quoted from the ministry's press statement here on Monday, Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, and Medium Education Director General Jumeri informed that KSN's 2021 participants would not solely be competing based on their scientific capabilities.
During the competition, students are also encouraged to further their understanding of the benefits of science, he noted.

Love for science can nurture a more systematic and rational thought process among students, he remarked.

At the KSN 2021, the science competition for elementary school students features mathematics and natural science, with 272 participants each.
Meanwhile, competitions for mathematics, natural science, and social science are for middle school students, with 245 participants each.
Lastly, high school students will participate in competitions for mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, informatics, astronomy, economics, geoscience, and geography, with 100 students each.

National Achievement Center's official, Asep Sukmayadi, noted that the KSN 2021 participants had undergone the selection process at the school, district or city, and provincial level that had been conducted since June 2021.
Some 228,906 students underwent the selection process conducted both in an online and offline format in accordance with the health protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Kenzie Elysia Nazneen from the Indonesia International School in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was one of the students who managed to become a KSN 2021 participant.
"I hope that I would be able to become number one," according to the sixth grader, who was about to compete in the science category.
