I hope that this activity could bring benefits to the community, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic
Bantul (ANTARA) - The COVID-19 vaccination coverage in Bantul District in the Special Region of Yogyakarta has reached 80 percent of the eligible recipients, the district government has said.

"The current vaccination achievement in Bantul has reached 80 percent from the target of 92–93 percent of the population," deputy head of Bantul district, Joko Purnomo, informed while reviewing vaccinations in Srandakan Sub-district, Bantul, on Monday.

COVID-19 vaccinations are important in the community's daily life, especially now that vaccinations have become the main requirement for travel and other purposes, he said.

He lauded the Bantul Social Worker Association (IPSM), which, in collaboration with Community Health Affair (Puskesmas) and Srandakan sub-district authorities, is providing basic food assistance and organizing vaccinations to help the government expedite vaccination coverage.

"I hope that this activity could bring benefits to the community, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic," he added.

Based on the monitoring of COVID-19 development in Bantul, there has been a significant increase in cases, he noted. Two weeks ago, cases had dropped to 71, but currently, their number has increased to 139, he said.

"As the Daily Chairman of the Bantul COVID-19 Task Force, I continue to make efforts to reduce the number of cases in Bantul to zero, as well as to drop our community activity restrictions (PPKM) level to Level 1," he informed.

Currently, Bantul district is at PPKM Level 2, with some community activities restricted. Purnomo said he hopes to lower Bantul's PPKM level to Level 1 to support the local community's economy.

However, he also reminded the community to continue to implement the health protocols, namely wearing masks, washing hands, maintaining distance, avoiding crowds, and reducing mobility.
