Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Communication and Informatics Ministry (Kominfo) has coaxed graduates of the Digital Leadership Academy (DLA) Program to devise policies focused on digital transformation.

“Ladies and gentlemen, the leaders, must know what digital transformation is, what kind of policies should be made, how to carry out the governance,” the ministry’s human resource research and development head Hary Budiarto noted in a press statement issued here on Tuesday.

Some 14 students have graduated under the DLA, implemented in partnership with the University of Oxford and Harvard Kennedy School University. The program was implemented under a partnership with four international universities.

Participants of the DLA program were the leaders in private and public sectors.

Graduates of the program are expected to boost greater openness, adaptiveness, agility, and flexibility among organizations in entering the digital transformation era.

The working world has developed rapidly owing to artificial intelligence, thereby necessitating the skills to utilize the technology, he emphasized.

Some 30 percent of the jobs and decision makers were assisted by artificial intelligence, he added.

“However, this is also about the mindset, how we can govern the digital transformation and it has to be possessed by all existing leaders,” according to Budiarto.

Referring to the Global Digital Practice’s report, he noted that the quality of digital leaders was deemed as being low.

Nearly 70 percent of the organizations reported that the leaders were not capable enough to comprehend the challenges in the digital era.

Meanwhile, 60 percent of the organizations were led by leaders with inadequate time to make initiatives in pursuit of digital innovation.

Some 50 percent of the organizations only focused on their revenues, but they did not pay attention to the future.

Only 40 percent of the organizations viewed digitalization as support for operational activities.

The DLA program was held in partnership with the Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford, on November 4-22, 2021, with a total of 35 participants.

Another program was held in partnership with the Harvard Kennedy School on November 8-19, with six participants.
