Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) is holding the Indonesia Electric Motor Show (IEMS) 2021, an electric vehicle exhibition, to support research and innovation for the domestic battery electric vehicle (BEV) industry.

"I hope that this exhibition would be beneficial for the people and the nation, specifically by inspiring future generations, half of whom could perhaps become Indonesia's future researchers," BRIN's Head, Laksana Tri Handoko, noted during the opening of the IEMS 2021 on Wednesday.

IEMS 2021 is scheduled on November 24-26, 2021, at Serpong's Science and Technology Research Center Area, Banten.

The event is a form of support by BRIN along with stakeholders and producers of electric vehicles and their components to drive innovation and development of electric vehicles in Indonesia.

Through collaboration with several parties, the IEMS 2021, organized by BRIN's Energy Conversion Technology Hall (B2TKE) and themed "Innovation for Better Future e-Mobility," is held through a hybrid exhibition and seminar format.

Through the IEMS, Handoko expects all parties, such as regulators, producers, associations, research agencies, and universities, to pursue this potentially lucrative market and fully support this domestic industry to realize Indonesia's Net Zero Emission 2060 target.

Head of BRIN's Technology Review and Application Research Organization (OR PPT) Dadan M. Nurjaman noted that the IEMS 2021 differed from that held in 2019.

At the IEMS 2021, the BRIN has adapted to the COVID-19 pandemic and innovated itself by utilizing internet-based digital technology, so that the event could be held in a hybrid format.
