"Thank God, the construction of Tebelian Airport has been completed, and (it) can be operated," the president said at Tebelian Airport, West Kalimantan, on Wednesday.
Jokowi remarked that Tebilian Airport would be able to serve 75 thousand passengers annually. The airport was built at a cost of Rp518 billion.
"This airport is very important to cater to the rising needs for air transportation for the public and to address people's increase in travel," he added.
In an era of competition that grows fierce among countries, Indonesia must forge ahead, for which smooth connectivity is the key, he stated.

"We must be able to make inter-provincial, inter-regional, and inter-district connectivity easier, smoother, and affordable for the community, so that new economic centers will continue to grow in various regions," Jokowi remarked.
The Tebelian Airport in Sintang was built in 2011, and its development has continued until 2020.
The airport was built to replace the current airport, Susilo Airport, which can no longer be expanded, given its location in the center of the city, surrounded by residential areas.

Tebelian Airport is built on an area spanning 153.6 hectares that was granted by the Sintang Government to the Transportation Ministry.
It has a passenger terminal measuring two thousand square meters that is capable of serving 75 thousand passengers per year.
The airport's runway, measuring 1,820 meters in length and 30 meters in width, can accommodate ATR-72/600 type of aircraft. It also has a taxiway spanning 160 meters x 18 meters and apron of 220 meters x 60 meters that can accommodate four ATR-72 aircraft.
Tebelian Airport and Pangsuma Airport are two of the four airports in West Kalimantan that are managed by the Directorate General of Air Transportation of the Transportation Ministry.
