At the virtual launch of the 2021 Liyangan Civilization House, here on Wednesday, Geria remarked that a compelling issue that becomes the main topic is the need to develop a civilization house that serves as a facility to edify and disseminate information on archaeological research results.
"Akin to this Liyangan site, it (shows) how the community can adapt to nature and environment when an eruption occurs," Geria noted at the launch of the Liyangan Civilization House held by the Yogyakarta Agency for Archaeology.
The Liyangan site is an ancient civilization area containing the remains of buildings, roads, fields, and various artifacts in Temanggung District, Central Java, and is located on the eastern slope of Mount Sindoro.
The site was discovered in 2008 while conducting sand mining. Back then, it was covered with volcanic ash for a long period of time, he noted. The archaeological agency thereafter concluded that Liyangan was a village from the Ancient Mataram Kingdom with very complex characteristics.

Geria noted that the Liyangan Civilization House was expected to be able to portray a community's social system in coping with environmental conditions.
"We need to bring up how we can cope with disasters, as our ancestors had done in the past," Geria explained.
On the occasion, the Yogyakarta Agency for Archaeology Head Sugeng Riyanto highlighted that the Civilization House was one of the national priority programs in all archaeological agencies in Indonesia.
Riyanto noted that the main goal was to popularize the results of archaeological research to the community, especially in the education sector.
At the launch, several products of the Liyangan Civilization House 2021, such as educational books, props, and posters, were also showcased.
