"The attempt aligns with Presidential Decree Number 104 of 2021 that favors village communities, especially the poor and the extreme poor people in rural areas," he remarked.Jakarta (ANTARA) - Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration Minister Abdul Halim Iskandar believes that the issuance of legal entity certificates for 1,604 village-owned enterprises (BUMDes) and 23 Joint BUMDes was a milestone in improving village welfare.
"Meanwhile, currently, 5,170 enterprises out of the 26,903 BUMDes and 80 enterprises out of the 1,665 Joint BUMDes have registered themselves as legal entities," Iskandar stated at the launch of the issuance of certificates and 2021 BUMDes National Coordination Meeting here on Monday.
As of December 19, 2021, the ministry recorded 26,903 BUMDes and 1,665 Joint BUMDes that had registered their enterprises' names.
The minister remarked that Law Number 11 of 2020 on Job Creation had established BUMDes and Joint BUMDes as a legal entity.
Thus, the enterprises were able to collaborate with other parties, for instance, in testing the type of motorized vehicle and managing water resources.
Highlighting President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi's) directives, the minister noted that pilot projects on sustainable integrated livestock farming villages, managed by Joint BUMDes, had been established in seven districts in three provinces.

On the same occasion, the president has encouraged the enterprises’ managers to conduct various activities that can benefit the villagers directly.
The minister noted that BUMDes must advance the villages’ economy.
"Do not hamper the existing community's businesses," Jokowi emphasized.
The village-owned businesses require a legal entity certificate as regulated by Article 9, paragraph (5) of Government Regulation Number 11 of 2021 regarding Village-Owned Enterprises as well as Ministerial Regulation of Law and Human Rights Minister Number 40 of 2021 on Issuance of Certificates for Registration of Legal Entities for BUMDes and Joint BUMDes.
