Medan, N Sumatra (ANTARA) - North Sumatra Province reported no daily cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, according to data from the provincial COVID-19 response task force issued on Thursday.

With a zero count of daily fresh cases, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the province remained unchanged at 106,100.

Three patients recovered from the infection on Wednesday, taking the total recovery count to 103,139.

Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19-related deaths also remained unchanged at 2,892. The number of active COVID-19 cases fell to 69, from 72 earlier.

The number of active COVID-19 cases declined after the number of recoveries surpassed the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases.

On a national scale, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours ending on Wednesday afternoon increased by 179 to touch 4,261,072 since the country reported the first COVID-19 confirmed cases on March 20, 2020.

With 252 patients recovering from COVID-19, the total number of recoveries reached 4,112,292 nationwide.

Meanwhile, 10 patients succumbed to the infection, taking the national COVID-19 death toll to 144,034.

The COVID-19 response task force called on the public to continue to comply with health protocols, as the COVID-19 pandemic was still lingering on.

The health protocols entailed wearing masks, washing hands with soap and running water, maintaining physical distance, avoiding crowds, and reducing mobility.
