We expect that the road will be able to reduce traffic jams in Gedebage sub-district, Bandung city, West Java province, to Cilacap district, Central Java province, in future.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Toll Road Authority (BPJT) of the Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry is targeting to begin the first phase of the construction of the Gedebage-Tasikmalaya-Cilacap Toll Road this year.

BPJT official Koentjahjo Pamboedi conveyed this information in a written statement received here on Thursday.

The construction and operation of the toll road will be divided into two sections, he said.

The first section will be the Gedebage–Tasikmalaya toll road, which will be constructed in the period from 2022 to 2024, he informed.

Construction on the second section, the Tasikmalaya-Cilacap toll road, will start in 2027 and is estimated to be completed by 2029, he said.

The road will connect West Java and Central Java provinces and span 206.65 kilometers (km), he informed adding, the road will be built with an investment of Rp56 trillion.

BPJT has determined the winner of the bid for the construction and the management of the toll road—a consortium comprising a number of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and private companies, he said.

The SOEs are PT Jasa Marga, PT Pembangunan Perumahan, PT Waskita Karya, and PT Wijaya Karya, while the private companies are PT Daya Mulia Turangga, PT Jasa Sarana, and PT Gama Group, he added.

Meanwhile, head of BPJT, Danang Parikesit, said the toll road is one of President Joko Widodo's priority projects.

"According to the directives of President Widodo and PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, 2022 will be the year of quality. Thus, we expect that the project can establish a toll road of international standards," he remarked.

Meanwhile, president director of PT Jasa Marga, Subakti Syukur, as the representative of the consortium, said that the consortium is very committed to completing the project smoothly and to delivering the expected result.

“We expect that the road will be able to reduce traffic jams in Gedebage sub-district, Bandung city, West Java province, to Cilacap district, Central Java province, in future,” he said.

The toll road will have ten interchanges: Majalaya, Nagrek, North Garut, South Garut, Singaparna, Tasikmalaya, Ciamis, Banjar, Patimuan, and Cilacap interchanges, he added.
