Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia added 802 COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, with Jakarta accounting for the most infections, the COVID-19 Handling Task Force informed.

Jakarta contributed 537 cases, followed by Riau Islands (66), West Java (62), Banten (62), and East Java (29), according to the task force's data.

The task force also pegged the number of patients recovering from the infection at 446, including 182 in Jakarta, 173 in Riau Islands, 18 in West Java, 12 in North Kalimantan, 11 in East Java, and 10 in Banten.

Meanwhile, the number of patients succumbing to the infection rose by eight: with two deaths reported in Lampung and one each in Central Sulawesi, Aceh, Yogyakarta, East Java, Jakarta, and West Java.

With the addition of 802 cases, the number of COVID-19 cases nationwide reached 4,267,431. The country reported its first confirmed COVID-19 case in March 2020.

The total number of recoveries increased to 4,116,648 and the total fatalities to 144,144.

The number of active cases or patients receiving treatment and undergoing self-isolation increased by 348 to 6,639 on Tuesday, while the number of suspected COVID-19 cases was recorded at 5,045 and the number of specimens examined at 288,467.

The task force called on the public to follow the health protocols consistently, saying the COVID-19 pandemic is not yet over.

The health protocols include wearing masks, washing hands with soap and running water, maintaining physical distance, avoiding crowds, and reducing mobility.
