This is happening because schools do not have sufficient thermogunsJakarta (ANTARA) - The Education and Teachers Association (P2G) has urged the Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministry to evaluate the implementation of 100-percent face-to-face learning (PTM) across Indonesia.
“We are still finding violations of health protocols. Many students are crowding while awaiting their turn for temperature checks upon arrival at school. This is happening because schools do not have sufficient thermoguns,” chief of P2G's advocacy section, Iman Zanatul Haeri, said in Jakarta on Wednesday.
P2G has also received a report on several shortcomings in the implementation of the health protocols at schools, including regarding physical distancing between students in classrooms, use of rooms with good ventilation, and the use of the PeduliLindungi application, he informed.
"A junior high school, SMP, in Riau Islands has found it difficult to conduct PeduliLindungi barcode scans before classes begin. To avoid crowding, several students are being allowed to enter classrooms without being scanned,” Iman noted.
“In addition, for the purpose of barcode scans, students are being allowed to bring mobile phones. But it turns out that some of them are playing games on social media in the classroom without wearing masks. Such things need to be evaluated,” he said.
P2G has received reports of health protocol violations during full face-to-face learning from Jakarta, Pandeglang, Cilegon, Bogor, Bengkulu, Agam, Solok Selatan, Situbondo, and Bima, he informed.
The violations include the opening of school canteens, he said. Some schools have opened canteens on the grounds that not all students are bringing food to school, he added.
In addition, some schools are carrying out activities that may cause crowding, he observed.

P2G has advised the government to implement face-to-face learning in stages, he said.
Full face-to-face classes must only be conducted in schools that are ready with the infrastructure and facilities to support health protocol implementation, while other schools must organize face-to-face learning with certain restrictions, in accordance with their level of preparedness, he explained.
