Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) Chairman Raja Sapta Oktohari made assurance that the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) will immediately revoke the sanctions against the Indonesian Anti-Doping Agency (LADI) at the start of February.

This assurance is based on WADA's official letter, signed by Head of WADA's Compliance Unit, Emiliano Simonell, and was sent to LADI on Friday, January 14.

"According to WADA's official letter sent on Friday concerning issues related to the sanction given to Indonesia, they stated that as of the start of February, this sanction will be revoked," he noted during an online press conference on Monday.

The lifting of WADA's sanction against LADI is faster than that for the initial sanction that lasted for a year since being imposed on October 7, 2021.

According to Oktohari, with the letter sent by WADA, the red and white flag could rise once again, and Indonesia could once more become a host for international events in 2022.

However, he cautioned that the KOI could not take it easy just because the sanction will be lifted.

"It is expected that in future, LADI could become a professional and trustworthy independent institution and could contribute not just in Indonesia but also the world," he affirmed.

After the sanction against LADI is lifted, the task force team will then commence investigation into a case pertaining to LADI's disobedience in providing the doping sample.

"After the sanction revocation is expedited, the investigation process will immediately begin, and we will cooperate with more competent parties to resolve this," he noted.

Earlier, Oktohari had expressed optimism that WADA would lift its sanction on LADI by March 2022 at the earliest.
