Financing in the health sector must be improvedJakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Medical Association (IDI) has made national health transformation as the main agenda during the upcoming 31st IDI Congress in Aceh, on March 22-25, 2022.
"The main theme of IDI at its 31st Congress will encourage the creation of national health independence and resilience, especially in facing the COVID-19 pandemic," IDI Chairman Daeng M. Faqih stated during the virtual pre-congress here on Thursday.
Faqih expressed optimism that the first pre-congress can result in various formulations for the national health transformation that will become the material for discussion at the 31st congress and serve as inputs for the government.
The chairman stressed on the need for health transformation, so health services in Indonesia would not lag behind those of other countries.
On the other hand, doctors, as the most strategic professionals in the health sector, should transform themselves, both in terms of their skills and literacy levels, he noted.
Another necessary transformation is financing in the health sector, according to Faqih.
"Financing in the health sector must be improved, so we will not lose out in the competition of health services at the global scale," he remarked.
Furthermore, he pointed out that transformation in the health primary service sector or health centers should be intensified, as they are at the forefront in providing health services to the public.
"For instance, how to transform referral services in existing networks to respond quickly in offering services," Faqih highlighted.
He viewed that cutting-edge technology can help to strengthen health centers to provide the best service for the community.
"I think all subsystems of healthcare must be transformed to deal with the high competition of service," he added.
Meanwhile, the first pre-congress of IDI in 2022 was attended by Acting Deputy for Supervision of Drugs, Narcotics, Psychotropic, Precursors, and Addictive Substances at the National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM) and Ministry of Health's Director General of Health Services.
