We have also started to give the booster vaccine since January 12
Jakarta (ANTARA) - A total of 301 million doses of the COVID-vaccine were administered in Indonesia so far, according to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

“The vaccination achievement has continued to increase. As of yesterday ( Jan 19, 2022), some 301 million vaccines were given to our people," the head of state noted on his official Instagram account @jokowi on Thursday.

The first dose of vaccination was administered to 85 percent of the target recipients, while the second dose to 58 percent of the target, he added.

The nation has also begun offering the booster shot since January 12, 2022, he noted.

"We have also started to give the booster vaccine since January 12," the president stated.

The head of state noted that handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, which is improving with each passing day, must drive optimism and trust in the community and be an impetus for business actors to continue economic and other productive activities.

"The better handling of the pandemic must be used to generate optimism and offer greater confidence and trust to the community and to business actors to immediately resume economic and other productive activities," he stated.

The president believes that 2022 will offer momentum for Indonesia's important phase of economic recovery.

Economic indicators have also continued to show improvement. In addition, economic stability and the financial system were well-maintained, he noted

"(It is) a strong foundation to accelerate recovery," President Jokowi stated.

Indonesia rolled out a national vaccination drive on January 13, 2021, with President Jokowi as the first recipient of the Sinovac vaccine.

The Indonesian government has received support for its vaccination drive from several countries, such as the United States, Japan, Australia, the United Kingdom, France, the United Arab Emirates, Italy, and Germany, that donated COVID19 vaccines, including Pfizer, Moderna, and AstraZeneca mostly under the COVAX Facility.

The country has also bought some 280 million doses of the Sinovac vaccine from China since Dec 2020.
