We gave Rp10.3 trillion in incentives to healthcare workers at the central level and Rp6.8 trillion in incentives for 646.5 thousand healthcare workers at the regional level.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Budget realization in the health sector in 2021 rose by 69.2 percent to reach Rp291.4 trillion, from Rp172.3 trillion in the previous year, a Finance Ministry's official stated.

The budget realization comprised Rp212.48 trillion of expenditure in ministries, Rp12.41 trillion for non-ministerial government institutions, and Rp66.49 trillion for transfer to regions and village funds, Director General of Budget at the Finance Ministry Isa Rachmatarwata stated at a hearing with the House of Representatives' Commission XI monitored in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The increase in budget realization in the health sector in 2021 resulted from health expenditure in ministries and transfer to regions and village funds that rose by 74.6 percent and 79.2 percent respectively, he revealed.

Budget for the health sector in 2021 was diverted to clear hospital bills worth Rp83.3 trillion for 1.4 million patients, procure 310.9 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine worth Rp33.2 trillion, and provide incentives for healthcare workers, he remarked.

"We gave Rp10.3 trillion in incentives to healthcare workers at the central level and Rp6.8 trillion in incentives for 646.5 thousand healthcare workers at the regional level," he stated.

In the meantime, the government also provided Rp44.9 trillion for 94 million recipients of the national health security contribution assistance, he stated.

In addition, the government has subsidized the national health security contribution for non-wage recipient workers of class 3, he added.

"They voluntarily join the national health security, so we pay part of their (national health security) contributions. Nearly 42 million workers benefit from this incentive, so (the program) received good responses," he noted.
