Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia and Singapore have agreed to strengthen cooperation in education and human resource development.

The agreement was reached during a meeting between Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in Bintan, here on Tuesday.

"Then, cooperation in education and human resource development. This cooperation has been the commitment of the two countries since several years ago," the President said in a virtual press conference.

In 2022, Singapore and the Riau Islands provincial government will carry out human resource training to strengthen capacity in Food Industry 4.0 and the supply chain, he informed.

This kind of cooperation could be further developed in various regions, and for cooperation on a larger scale, the proposed MoU on Human Capital Partnership Arrangement is welcome, he said.

The MoU would strengthen research cooperation and institutional strengthening as well as student exchange in order to strengthen the concept of an independent campus in Indonesia, the head of state added.

Besides education and human resources, Indonesia and Singapore will also strengthen cooperation in economic recovery, politics, law and security, and vaccine recognition, he added.
