Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono allocated Rp505.9 billion for preparations for the Indonesian presidency at the G20 Summit in Bali in 2022.

"Budget for preparations for the Indonesian presidency for the G20 Summit in Bali amount to Rp505.9 billion," Hadimuljono stated during a working meeting with Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives on Tuesday.

The preparations encompass the restructuration of the Mangrove Area forest park in Ngurah Rai where all heads of state participating in the G20 Summit will be offered a glimpse of Indonesia's policies for a green economy by expanding the mangrove area in Indonesia.

The budget is also diverted for the reparation and preservation of the Pesanggaran - Nusa Dua and Jimbaran - Uluwatu interchange roads and bridges and the landscape arrangement of roundabouts, pedestrians, and the median of the Ngurah Rai Airport - Venue road, as well as improvement of the Siligita - Kempinski intersection road.

"These routes will be traveled by the heads of state participating in the G20 Summit, considering that they will ride on bulletproof vehicles with heavyweights. Hence, we will check the condition of all bridges that will be traversed by 39 heads of state participating in the G20 Summit," Hadimuljono explained.

In addition to preparations for the Indonesian Presidency at the G20 Summit in Bali, the PUPR Ministry was also tasked with making preparations for the 2023 ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

Hadimuljono remarked that budget worth Rp525.8 billion was allocated for preparations for the 2023 ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo.

The preparations include upgrading, widening, and building roads and bridges at the Labuan Bajo - Nalis Intersection - Kenari Intersection - Tanamori. In addition, the Ministry will improve the Loh Buaya tourism supporting facilities on Rinca Island.

Preparations for the Indonesian presidency at the G20 Summit in Bali and preparations for the 2023 ASEAN Summit in NTT are part of a special assignment given by President Joko Widodo to the PUPR Ministry for infrastructure development, with a total planned budget of Rp2.7 trillion.

This is stipulated in Presidential Decree Number 116 of 2021 on accelerating the implementation of infrastructure development to support international events in the provinces of Bali, Jakarta, NTB, and NTT.
