Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government had prolonged the level 3 community activities restriction status for Jakarta, and the number of people tested reduced, from 21,285 to 15,283 per day.

The decision was stated in line with the Instruction of the Home Affairs Ministry Number 12 of 2022 on Community Activities Restriction, which was valid for a week, or until February 28, 2022.

The details of the new count of tested people are: Thousand Islands, with 19 people tested, from 37 people earlier, while the figure was down to 3,803 people, from 5,705 people in West Jakarta.

Central Jakarta tested 1,305 people as compared to 1,958 people previously; South Jakarta's testing numbers remained the same, at 3,299 people; East Jakarta tested 4,214 people, from 6,321 people earlier; while North Jakarta was down to 2,643 people, from 3,965 people earlier.

According to the instruction, the number of people tested daily was the minimum quota that districts and cities must meet per day.

People considered as screening targets were suspects and contacts of confirmed cases and not asymptomatic people that were screened.

According to the instruction, the examination would be increased according to the weekly positivity rate. If the positive case rate percentage is less than five percent, then one person was tested per one thousand population per week.

The positive case rate percentage from less than five percent to less than 15 percent indicates five people tested per one thousand population per week.

For a positivity rate of 15 to less than 25 percent, some 10 people would need to be tested per one thousand population per week, and above 25 percent of positivity rate would require as many as 15 people to be tested per one thousand population per week.

The reduction in the number of people being tested was expected due to the decrease in the number of both positive and active cases.

Data from the Jakarta Provincial Government disclosed that the percentage of positive cases as of Monday, February 21, decreased to 17 percent, with the number of people being tested for PCR swabs in a week remaining high, capped at 362,314.

The number of people tested per day also exceeded the World Health Organization-set standard of 10,645 people per week.

Last week, on February 14, 2022, the percentage of positive cases reached 22.2 percent, with the number of people being tested by PCR-based swabs in a week reaching 360,202. The rate was higher than the current one.

On February 20, the figure fell to 3,875 people, while on February 21, the count decreased by 6,532 people, leaving only 65,059 active cases.

In comparison with February 14, the number of patients being treated and isolated at that time increased by 10,126, bringing the total up to 83,628 active cases.
