Creating a forest city, a smart city, a sustainable modern city, with international standards
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chief of Presidential Staff Moeldoko emphasized that the new capital city Nusantara was dedicated to everyone and not just a select few groups.

"The construction of this new capital city is dedicated to the nation and the state, for Indonesia's better future; not for (certain) groups of people. To meet those ends, we need great collaboration (among) the Indonesian people," Moeldoko noted during an online dialog as observed from here on Wednesday.

The chief of Presidential Staff stated that the government was open to inputs and suggestions regarding the new capital city's planning, especially constructive ones, which would encourage better development.

Moeldoko confirmed that the Presidential Staff will additionally oversee the development of the new capital city and address issues that could possibly hinder the progress.

President Joko Widodo was confident that Nusantara would serve as a representation of a superior nation, thereby becoming an example and source of motivation for other cities in Indonesia to develop themselves.

"It would also demonstrate to the global citizens how Indonesia executes a new plan in realizing aspirations for the future," he elaborated.

The transfer of the state's capital from Jakarta to East Kalimantan was not merely a physical rebuilding of the government's buildings, but it also served as a metaphor for a change geared towards Indonesia's advancements.

The notion was owing to the belief that Nusantara would be a token of Indonesia's greatness that encompassed national identity and ensured social, economic, and environmental sustainability.

"Creating a forest city, a smart city, a sustainable modern city, with international standards," he affirmed.

Jokowi believed that the capital city Nusantara would become an inclusive city welcoming all sorts of groups.

"A city (which allows for) all walks of life to coexist in harmony and togetherness as well as offer the same opportunities (for everyone) to participate in building and developing Nusantara," President Jokowi concluded.
