Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry has been revitalizing the Malalayang Beach and Bunaken Ecotourism Village in Manado City, North Sulawesi Province, to develop ecotourism destinations of international standards.

"I have urged the developer to increase the number of kitchens in the food stalls built on Malalayang Beach, so visitors will not have to wait long while ordering food," PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono noted in a written statement here on Wednesday.

Revitalization of the areas aims to support development of the Manado-Bitung-Likupang Super Priority Tourism Destinations (DPSP) in the province.

Several revitalized facilities comprise merchant kiosk, docks, Boboca Monument, signage, view tower, floating stalls, and public toilets.

This step is expected to increase work opportunities in the tourism sector.

Once the revitalization is completed, Maharthana affirmed that the North Sulawesi BPPW will hand over the management of the tourism areas to the Manado city government to benefit the local community and economic actors.

“The Manado city government has planned that the soft launch of tourism attractions be held in early July 2022," he added.
