Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry expects the 2022 FoodStartup Indonesia (FSI) Program to serve as a beneficial forum or ecosystem for culinary business actors.

"We are optimistic that through our efforts, we do bring the greatest blessings and benefits. This is especially in terms of Indonesia's economic recovery," Deputy for Industry and Investment of the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry Fadjar Hutomo stated, as quoted from a press statement received here on Friday.

The FSI 2022 Program was conducted as a means to develop the culinary sector, especially for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), in order to boost the capacity while expanding access to finance. In 2022, the FSI brought up the theme of Planet, People, Profit (3P), which were three important aspects in supporting the sustainable development goals.

This program seeks to inspire the culinary business through a balanced orientation among sustainability, social impact, and profitability.

"We need to (pay attention to) these three aspects, which are often referred to as the triple bottom line (3P concept). Startup, as a business entity, eventually must pay attention to the profit aspect to be able to have economic sustainability," Hutomo affirmed.

The deputy added that players in the culinary sub-sector must be creative, innovative, and pay close attention to the cycle of business, taking into account the inclusive nature of the culinary industry.

"Here, the connection between profit and people must be strong," he remarked.

It was also considered apposite for business players to always pay attention to the local culture or resources as an effort to maintain environmental sustainability. Thus, they have to take into account aspects, such as the connection between profit and the planet, especially the consumption rate and responsible production.

The 2022 FSI Demoday was held simultaneously with the Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN) Global Conference 2022, which was a G20 Indonesia side event.

The event will connect startup entrepreneurs in the culinary sub-sector with an integrated ecosystem. This ecosystem referred to a culinary creative network comprising the government, business mentors, capital, suppliers or vendors, and investors, to marketing. Thus, it was expected to support revival of the economy by offering more job opportunities. The registration is officially open from March 4 until April 25, 2022.

Director of Access to Financing at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Hanifah Makarim, pointed out that the event will curate culinary creative actors and offer opportunities to obtain funding or capital with either conventional, sharia loan, profit-sharing, or share-sharing schemes. After its launch, the program will feature a series of registration, selection, and judging events.

Selected participants would receive mentoring sessions; business matching; and the peak event, called Demoday, which includes product showcase activities; mentoring; and a final pitch in June 2022.
