Jakarta (ANTARA) - Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Minister Teten Masduki has encouraged micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) players to make the most of the 2022 Mandalika MotoGP event for promotion.

The 2022 Mandalika MotoGP will be held on March 18-20, 2022, at the Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit, Central Lombok District, West Nusa Tenggara Province.

"Indonesian MSMEs must demonstrate their potential on the international stage, using it as a means of expanding production, attracting investment, and developing quality products," he remarked while opening the MSME Goes To Mandalika ceremony at the SMESCO Indonesia building, Jakarta, as quoted in a release here on Sunday.

Masduki noted that his ministry will hold an exhibition that will display more than 1,500 flagship MSME products from 14 provinces during the MotoGP event.

The products from the automotive category, merchandise, souvenirs, health products, and food and beverages will be on display at the exhibition.

In 2021, the automotive industry reportedly increased by 17.82 percent, with 1.5 million workers being absorbed. This is deemed to be evidence that demand for the automotive market is still high.

"The improvement in the automotive industry will automatically drive other sectors, including MSMEs," he noted.

Masduki stressed that the MotoGP event should be harnessed to promote MSME products, tourism, and investment.

The minister called for a measurable roadmap for the promotion, so that in the next decade, Indonesia, through organizing MotoGP in Mandalika, can increase the target of the automotive industry, including from the MSME sector.

"In 10 years, I am optimistic that we can push the world-class Indonesian automotive industry," he affirmed.

During the MSME goes to Mandalika event, an automotive exhibition was held that involved 60 SMEs and 40 tourism SMEs as a series of promotions for MSMEs and tourism services to support the Mandalika MotoGP event.
