Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry supports 10 local Indonesian start-ups at the "South by Southwest Online Creative Industries Exhibition 2022" (SXSW), an international exhibition scheduled on March 11-20, 2022.

This event is a world-class creative industry exhibition in Austin, Texas, the United States, which brings together start-ups and established companies to build networks and encourage investment opportunities.

"This year is the 6th time that Indonesia (participates) and features several start-up companies that brings up the theme of Exploring Digital Wonders of Indonesia," Tourism and Creative Economy Minister, Sandiaga Uno, noted in a written statement received here on Wednesday.

The theme was chosen as a result of collaboration between the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry and various stakeholders, including the Communication and Information Ministry, Industry Ministry, National Research and Innovation Agency, and Secretariat of the Bali Startup Summit.

The theme was derived or adapted from Wonderful Indonesia as a brand for the country's tourism and creative economy. Concurrently, it aims to introduce the potential of Indonesia's creative economy, especially the application sub-sector, to the global community.

According to Uno, it aligned with the issue of digital transformation, especially related to global health awareness, raised at the G20 Indonesia Presidency forum.

“The spirit of digitization is one of the priority issues of the G20 Presidency. We need to be proud that Indonesia is one of the ASEAN countries included in the G20. Hopefully, in future, Indonesia will have a bigger (contribution) in creating a more inclusive world order for all people," he remarked.
