Pontianak (ANTARA) - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has forecast light to heavy rain in most of West Kalimantan in the next three days.

"The weather forecast for the next three days from March 22 to 24, 2022 in the West Kalimantan region, (the area) will experience light to heavy rain, which may come with short-lived lightning and strong winds," head of the Supadio BMKG Office in Pontianak, Nanang Buchori, said on Tuesday.

The agency recorded temperatures between 23–30 degrees Celsius on March 22–23, 2022, in Sambas, Sanggau, Sintang, Kapuas Hulu, Melawi, Sekadau, Mempawah, Ketapang, Bengkayang, Landak, North Kayong, Kubu Raya, Pontianak, and Singkawang districts, while the humidity level was capped at 75–100 percent, he informed.

Meanwhile, Sekadau, Kapuas Hulu, and Sintang district are at risk of light to moderate rain at night until the early hours of the morning, he added.

"As for March 24–25, 2022, the BMKG predicted the air temperature will be around 23–32 degrees Celsius, with a humidity level of 60–100 percent," he informed.

"So that some parts of West Kalimantan will experience moderate to heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds of short duration in the afternoon to early morning," he said.

Among the areas with potential for rain accompanied by lightning and thunder are parts of Sintang, Kapuas Hulu, Sekadau, and Melawi districts.

"We urge the public to remain cautious of the risk of rain with lightning, one of which is by not being under a tree when the weather is bad," Buchori said.
