Hence, Indonesia is continuing to create an inclusive democracy and accommodate the needs of all people.Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy has said that mutual cooperation is a practical form of democracy as Indonesian people have a sense of solidarity due to their shared fate and interests.
"Democracy is not something new for our nation," he stated at the 2022 Indonesian Civil Society Forum (ICSF), which was held virtually on Wednesday.
Indonesia has hundreds of cultures, which have unique traditions and distinctive indigenous political systems, he noted.
Thus, the government is trying to accommodate the noble values of various sub-cultures in Indonesia, which upholds democratic principles.

“Hence, Indonesia continues to create an inclusive democracy and accommodate the needs of all people. Although there are many obstacles and challenges to creating it, we are optimistic to make a brighter future for Indonesians," he remarked.
Indonesia has established a democratic government to allow for the participation of the public, the coordinating minister said.
"As an attempt to uphold justice and inclusiveness, our electoral system provides opportunities for people to vote from the lowest level, which is village head, to the highest level, which is state head," he emphasized.

In fact, Indonesian people can nominate themselves to get voted as regional leaders. Not all of the world's population has the same opportunity, he highlighted.
"Furthermore, after a leader is elected, the community has the opportunity to help determine the priority policy directions," he added.
For instance, a village development community is considered incomplete without representation from women, the poor, customary representatives, as well as people with special needs or with disabilities, Effendy said.
"The regulation is implemented in all villages in Indonesia, whose number of villages has almost reached 80 thousand villages," he added.
