The Yogyakarta Office of Cooperatives, Small, and Medium-Scale Enterprises (SMEs) Industries is targeting to start construction work for the National Industrial Design Center (PDIN) at the end of April, later than originally scheduled.



“Today, the winner of the auction was announced, and there will still be a further process until the signing of the contract in mid-April. Hopefully, the physical work can start in the fourth week of this month," head of Yogyakarta Cooperatives and SMEs Industries, Tri Karyadi Riyanto, said in Yogyakarta on Friday.



Earlier, the construction of PDIN was planned to begin in March, but was hindered because the auction process took a much longer time.

Referring to the original plan, Riyanto said the construction work of PDIN was planned to be completed within nine months, but because the auction date was delayed, work will now be accelerated so that the center is completed in eight months.



"All auction bidders already know the conditions, so whoever the winner is must already have the calculations and be able to complete the building construction within eight months," he added.



He also assured his office will include an eight-month work duration clause in the contract for the auction winner.

The construction project will be financed using special allocation funds of around Rp41 billion.



The building will be built on the land of the former Terban Terminal and cover an area of around 2,800 sq. m. It will have four stories with a rooftop.



The design or architecture of the building will also be adjusted to the area, which is listed as a cultural heritage.



Karyadi said that he hopes the existence of PDIN in Yogyakarta city will increase the competitiveness of the small and medium-sized industrial sector, not only in the city but in all of Indonesia.
