Within the last week, we have taken down thousands of accounts because of pornography
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Informatics has made assurance that cyber patrolling to remove pornographic content distributed in the digital space will continue.

At his residence on Sunday, Minister of Communication and Informatics Johnny G. Plate noted that the cyber patrol is conducted daily without delay to ensure a healthy and safe digital space for all parties.

"This (cyber patrol) is nonstop, including against adult content of pornography, specifically child pornography. Child pornography is banned in all countries," he stated.

"Within the last week, we have taken down thousands of accounts because of pornography," he added.

In addition to the thousands of accounts, he noted that over one million pieces of pornography content accessible in the virtual space were removed in Indonesia within a week.

The ministry does not act alone in handling pornographic content but collaborates with other parties, such as search engine platforms and cellular operators, Plate stressed.

The ministry is also collaborating with the police to follow up on the problem of pornography that exists in the digital space, he noted.

The ministry, in handling the problem of pornography, always coordinates and consults with others to remove access from Indonesia's digital space.

Meanwhile, law enforcement is conducted under the authority of the police.

Moreover, he understands that there are times when internet users in Indonesia utilize Virtual Private Network (VPN) for privacy.

However, he urged the people to be wise in utilizing the network and to not cause harm to others.

Utilizing VPN requires strong personal ethics and moral resiliency, as it is beyond the authority of electronic system organizers, he affirmed.

"As soon as the VPN is utilized, then that means we enter a private space. We cannot spread negative content in it," the minister emphasized.
