However, not all suggestions can be accommodated.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) is optimistic that the Second Amendment Draft on Law Number 12 of 2011 on the Establishment of Legislation (PPP Law) would increase public participation in formulating a law.

Head of the Legislative Body (Baleg) of DPR RI Supratman Andi Agtas conveyed the statement at the Baleg Working Meeting regarding the Second Amendment Draft on the PPP Law at the Parliament Complex, here, on Wednesday evening.

Agtas assessed that the quality and quantity of public participation in drafting a bill must be maintained well.

In preparing the Second Amendment Draft on the PPP Law, Baleg had visited several universities in Indonesia to seek the academics’ suggestions and opinions for improvement of the PPP Law, he affirmed.

"However, not all suggestions can be accommodated," he remarked.

The working meeting also involved the government and the Indonesian Regional Representatives Council (DPD RI).

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto were other attendees at the working meeting.

Most of the meeting's participants approved that the Second Amendment Draft on the PPP Law should be taken to a Level II discussion at the Plenary Session of the DPR RI to be approved into law.

There are several points of revision of the PPP Law, including the change of Article 5, Point G of the PPP Law that regulates the explanation of the principle of openness.

The revision also discusses the use of the omnibus method in the establishment of laws, which is included in the amendment to Article 64 of the PPP Law.

Furthermore, the amendment includes the addition of Article 97A, Article 97B, and Article 97C that regulate the content of laws established through the omnibus method, establishment of electronic-based regulations, harmonization of bills proposed by the government, as well as evaluation of the regulations.
