(For) Halalbihalal activities (people) are advised not to provide food and beverages
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has said that activities related to the 2022 Eid al-Fitr gatherings, known as halalbihalal, will be regulated by a Home Affairs Minister's Instruction.

He made that statement after attending a limited meeting on the evaluation of public activity restrictions (PPKM) led by President Joko Widodo here on Monday.

"The President gave a note regarding various halalbihalal activities later. Of course, those activities will be regulated by the Home Affairs Minister's Instruction," he informed.

The minister noted that one of the things that will be regulated is the obligation for people to keep complying with the COVID-19 health protocols during Eid gatherings.

Hartarto, who also serves as chairman of the Committee for COVID-19 Handling and National Economic Recovery (KPC-PEN), said the government has advised that halalbihalal activities not be followed by communal dining.

However, if people decide to organize communal dining, they must follow the applicable health protocols.

“(For) Halalbihalal activities (people) are advised not to provide food and beverages," he said.

Places of entertainment and crowded areas must be opened in accordance with the health protocols and the capacity limitation, he added.

This year, the Indonesian government has allowed people to travel to their hometowns to celebrate Eid on account of an improvement in the COVID-19 situation in the country.

Prospective travelers have been asked to complete primary vaccinations and get a booster dose prior to embarking on the homecoming trip.

The Transportation Ministry has estimated that the peak of the Eid exodus will take place on April 29, 2022—at the same time as the start of the collective leave days.

The ministry has also projected that 85.5 million citizens, or 31.6 percent of the total population, will take part in the 2022 Eid homecoming exodus.
