Hopefully, the traffic will become better and safer.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The first day of the simulation of the odd-even plate number restriction, held to prepare for the Eid al-Fitr exodus, went smoothly on Monday, the Traffic Corps of the National Police informed.

The corps is implementing the simulation from April 25 to 27, 2022.

"All praises be to God. Although the traffic was crowded, we could manage it well due to our and other stakeholders’ readiness," head of operations of the corps, Senior Commissioner Eddy Djunaedi, remarked at KM 46 of the Cikampek Utama Toll Road on Monday.

The simulation took place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Western Indonesia Standard Time (WIB) on Monday from KM 47 of the Cikampek Utama Toll Road to KM 70 of the North Cikampek Toll Gate.

The trial that will be implemented from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. WIB on April 26, 2022, will cover KM 47 to KM 188 of the Palimanan Toll Gate.

Meanwhile, on April 27, 2022, the activity will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. WIB and cover KM 47 to KM 144 of the Kalingkung Toll Gate.

A total of 75 personnel were deployed at KM 46 on Monday to monitor all passing vehicles.

The number of personnel may be increased based on the evaluation of the simulation.

As observed by ANTARA, vehicular traffic managed to flow smoothly through KM 46 although the road was crowded due to a lot of large vehicles, such as trucks and lorries.

Djunaedi said that the Traffic Corps will continue to monitor the large number of vehicles on the roads, in accordance with the Transportation Ministry’s Circular Letter Number 45 of 2022 regarding Road Traffic Regulation during the 2022 Eid Al-Fitr Holiday.

If the number of vehicles increases during the remaining simulation days, the corps may also implement contra-flow and one-way schemes, he said.

"Hopefully, the traffic will become better and safer,” he added.
