Bogor, West Java (ANTARA) - As many as 90 thousand vehicles, comprising 40 thousand motorcycles and 50 thousand four-wheeled vehicles, traveled on the Puncak line in Ciawi-Megamendung on Wednesday, according to Bogor Police.



The volume of vehicles increased by 40 percent compared to the second day of the Eid holiday (May 3, 2022), Bogor Police chief, Adjunct Sen. Coms. Imanuddin, said here on Wednesday.



Therefore, to break down the traffic density, a situational one-way traffic flow system was implemented from 7:30 a.m., he added.



Police personnel also directed tourists coming from the direction of Jakarta to a number of alternative routes around Puncak, he informed.

"We have continued to coordinate with Bogor city police and Cianjur police to anticipate the effects of the one-way scheme," he added.



He said he had also prepared alternative routes around Puncak, including directions and officers on the alternative routes.



Meanwhile, road users mostly seemed to be traveling to Puncak, such as to villas, hotels, and Taman Safari Indonesia, he informed. There were also travelers who expressed their intention to return to Cianjur.

After the vehicular traffic headed to Puncak became smooth, the one-way system to Jakarta began to be enforced alternately.



"We are currently implementing the one-way scheme towards Jakarta because the rest of the vehicles that were going to Puncak have been cleared at Gadog Interchange," Imanuddin said.



However, the increasing volume of vehicles from Jakarta until 11 a.m. led to congestion at a number of points on the way to Puncak, such as from Ciawi Toll Gate up to the Gadog Interchange, he informed.



The Bogor Police chief said that the police is no longer imposing the odd-even rule around Puncak area considering the volume of vehicles.



The odd-even policy can be reinforced if the traffic density forces vehicles to be turned back or make a U-turn, Imanuddin added.
