Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin provided social assistance from the government, including aid from National Alms Agency (Baznas), and workers' compensation for five Islamic boarding schools and the Kendari community in Southeast Sulawesi on Thursday.

According to a press release issued the same day, the aid came from the Ministry of Social Affairs and comprised packages containing daily necessities and cooking oil cash aid.

"I hope this assistance can be put to good use," Amin said, according to the press release.

As per the release, Amin provided aid for the payment of Indonesia Health Card dues, Family Hope Program (PKH), and Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT).

The Vice President also distributed assistance from Baznas in the form of 50 packages consisting of prayer mats, prayer beads, and prayer equipment worth Rp10 million–Rp12.5 million for five Islamic boarding schools or pesantren.

In addition to the packages, 10 "santripreneurs" or pesantren students running various businesses, such as gallon-filling services, convenience stores, and accessories, among others, also received cash assistance.

Meanwhile, Baznas chief Noor Achmad said similar assistance had been provided in several places and could be put to good use.

Furthermore, workers' compensation was provided by the Workers Social Security Agency (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan) in the form of death compensation and education scholarship benefits amounting to Rp1.11 billion. The compensation was handed over to four heirs or kin of beneficiaries who died due to work accidents in Southeast Sulawesi.

The funds comprised compensation for death due to work accidents (JKK), funeral expenses, pension fund benefits, Old-age Insurance Program (JHT), and scholarship benefits.

According to data from BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, between April 2021 and April 2022, the total benefits provided to participants of all programs in Southeast Sulawesi province reached Rp205.5 billion, with the number of cases touching 18.6 thousand.
