"This figure is the highest since the start of the pandemic. This indicates that the tourism sector has started to recover," Yuwono said during a press conference in Jakarta on Thursday.
The number of international tourists arriving in Indonesia through the main entrance in April 2022 increased drastically by 499.01 percent compared to April 2021, he added.
Compared to the previous month, the number of international tourists arriving through the main entrance increased by 172.27 percent in April 2022.
In April 2022, 97.40 thousand international tourists arrived via air transportation, 12.43 thousand via sea transportation, and 1,229 by land transportation.

Meanwhile, the number of international tourist visits to Indonesia through the main entrance from January to April 2022 reached 185,440, a sharp increase of 350.09 percent compared to the same period of 2021.
From January to April, 168.85 thousand foreign tourists arrived by air, 14.58 thousand by sea, and 2,008 by land.
The room occupancy rate at star-rated hotels in Indonesia reached 34.23 percent in April 2022, a slight decrease of 0.40 percent compared to April 2021.
The room occupancy rate at non-star-rated hotels in April 2022 was recorded at 17.40 percent, down 0.59 points compared to April 2021. Compared to the previous month, the room occupancy rate at non-star-rated hotels in April 2022 fell 4.66 points.
