Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Tuberculosis (TB) Multi-Sector Forum established by the central government is aiming to strengthen multi-sectoral commitment to the local government level, an official from the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture has said.

"We hope that in the future local governments from provinces, villages, all stakeholders, communities, mass media, and other development partners are willing to be more active in TB control activities in an integrated manner," assistant deputy for disease control and mitigation at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, Nancy Dian Anggraeni, said.

She conveyed the remarks at an awareness webinar held by the Multi-Sectoral Forum for TB Control, on Thursday.

The forum combines the TB control acceleration team and the TB control partnership, she noted. The forum would be established in 34 provinces and 514 districts/cities across Indonesia.

It will combine Penta helix elements and be ratified through a Governor's or Regional Head's Regulation in order to prepare a work plan, in accordance with Presidential Regulation Number 67 of 2021 concerning TB and a Minimum Service Standard (SPM) Management from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

"The central government, based on Presidential Regulation 67, has formed a team to accelerate TB reduction, which consists of 19 ministries and institutions and a partnership forum consisting of 35 multi-sector partners from various elements that include the Penta helix concept," Anggraeni informed.

Various activities of the forum can be integrated with the TB program, programs to reduce stunting in children, and poverty alleviation programs since those three problems intersect each other.

The government hopes that the forum would build awareness among all parties regarding TB as a common problem that must be resolved to create a superior and healthier generation in the future.

“This is a challenge for all of us. We must take prevention efforts to reach the golden generation in 2045," she remarked.

Anggraeni said that the government is targeting to reduce TB cases to 65 per 100,000 population and TB deaths to 6 per 100,000 population by 2030. This means that Indonesia only has eight more years to eliminate the disease from the country.

Currently, TB incidence in Indonesia is 112 per 100,000 population. Thus, Anggraeni said she hopes that all regions would adopt good practices from the forum since joint roles and collaboration are important for controlling TB.

"We hope that the Integrated Program for TB Control can run well with integration and synergies involving community stakeholders and other multi-sectors that can play an active role in accelerating TB control," she added.
