The exhibition, titled "Dis Art Fest 2022," was supported by the Indonesian Resilient Women (PTI) Foundation to boost micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) owned by people with disabilities.
Chairperson III of the PTI Foundation Hermasari Dharmabumi stated here on Thursday that the exhibition was held concurrently with the W20 event, as the activity was attended by several participants.
"It is an opportunity for artists, with disabilities, to have a market and an opportunity to sell their works, so it (the W20 event) will have an impact on their income in future," she remarked.
Various artworks, including handicrafts and carvings, were displayed at the exhibition.
In addition to holding exhibitions, the PTI Foundation provides a marketplace to digitally sell the artworks.
The foundation will also establish a cooperative to serve as an economic driver for families whose members are disabled.
Furthermore, the PTI Foundation’s official expects support from all parties to pay heed to MSMEs owned by the families, considering the correlation between disability and poverty.
Dharmabumi recalled having to quit her job as she was a single parent, who had to tend to a disabled child in need of special attention.
