Currently, the cooking oil price has continued to fall in a number of regions.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, has said that he expects the Bulk Cooking Oil Information System (SIMIRAH) to become a super app assisting in resolving cooking oil management issues.

At a press conference on the business matching program for CPO (crude palm oil) producers and bulk cooking oil entrepreneurs in Bali province on Friday, he informed that currently, the government is integrating the Industry Ministry’s system with data from other ministries/institutions.

"The attempt aims to ensure that the upstream to downstream (cooking oil management) process can run well according to the target. The President (Joko Widodo) has asked us (government officials) to pay attention to the (cooking oil) supply in the domestic market," he said.

Currently, the system is being upgraded. The data from SIMIRAH version 1.0 is being transferred to SIMIRAH version 2.0, the minister disclosed.

"All business actors of crude palm oil and their derivative products must be registered in the system," he emphasized.

In addition, he said he expected that cooking oil distribution through the SIMIRAH program will run normally and the price of bulk cooking oil will continue to decline to a level of Rp14 thousand (US$0.96) per liter.

"Currently, the cooking oil price has continued to fall in a number of regions," he noted.

However, the implementation of the government’s cooking oil management policies may not be able to meet the expectation of all parties, Pandjaitan pointed out.

Hence, the government will continue to evaluate and improve existing policies to ensure that they run well.

The coordinating minister also lauded business actors who have supported and become involved in efforts to resolve the issue of the unstable supply and price of cooking oil in Indonesia.

The government has been striving to help the community to get affordable cooking oil, he added.

“In addition, the government is concerned with (the condition of) the palm oil farmers; thus, the President has asked us to make the welfare of the farmers (our) main priority,” he said.
