(We) discuss global development and how Indonesia can be an example for countries in the world
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's role in the global community was one of the topics discussed by party leaders invited for a banquet with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) before inaugurating new ministers and deputy ministers on Wednesday.

"(We) discuss global development and how Indonesia can be an example for countries in the world," Minister of National Development Planning/Head of the National Development Planning Agency Suharso Monoarfa, who is concurrently chairperson of the United Development Party (PPP), stated after the inauguration ceremony at the Presidential Palace here.

During the banquet, party leaders also discussed about the International Monetary Fund (IMF) warning that some countries might fail to recover from the crises due to the COVID-19 pandemic, exacerbated by the Russia-Ukraine conflict, he stated.

"Indonesia, instead, is a champion, and Indonesia must share its view and experiences," the minister affirmed.

Monoarfa admitted to have spoken about Indonesia's experiences in handling the current crisis while serving as guest speaker at the 47th annual meeting of the Islamic World Bank.

"As a guest speaker (at the event), I was asked about how Indonesia addresses the pandemic, economic recovery, and other issues," he noted.

Indonesia must be thankful that the Russia-Ukraine conflict has not affected the domestic food sector, he emphasized while adding that Indonesia currently has the opportunity to export some of its rice commodity.

Apart from Monoarfa, some party chairpersons that attended the banquet with the president are Megawati Soekarnoputri of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), Airlangga Hartarto of the Golkar Party, and Prabowo Subianto of the Gerindra Party.

The other party chairpersons -- Surya Paloh of Nasdem Party, Muhaimin Iskandar of the National Awakening Party (PKB), and Zulkifli Hasan of the National Mandate Party (PAN) -- were also present.

Zulkifli Hasan, as the new trade minister, was inaugurated alongside Hadi Tjahjanto, taking office as the minister of agrarian affairs and spatial planning/head of the National Land Agency.

Apart from Hasan and Tjahjanto, three new deputy ministers also inaugurated on Wednesday were John Wempi Wetipo as deputy minister of home affairs, Afriansyah Noor as deputy minister of manpower, and Raja Juli Antoni as deputy minister of agrarian affairs and spatial planning/deputy head of the National Land Agency.
