(It is) not just to the people affected directly by the one, as we see, as we may see now, in this war in Ukraine, with the invasion of Russia
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President of the Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU) Duarte Pacheco believes that dialogue and diplomacy should be the tool to finding solutions to all problems afflicting the world.

"Dialogue to compromise, diplomacy, and also parliamentarian diplomacy should be the tool to find solutions, to find the way to build a better world," Pacheco stated at the kick-off of the Road to the 8th G20 Parliamentary Speaker's Summit (P20), online, here on Wednesday.

P20 is a forum for speakers of the parliaments of G20 members. Under Indonesia’s 2022 G20 Presidency, the P20 Summit will be held on October 6-7, 2022.

Pacheco emphasized the need to discuss several of the currently faced problems, such as climate change, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and also the war between Russia and Ukraine, as they affect all people.

Hence, he deemed it crucial to find solutions and achieve development.

However, Pacheco emphasized that the war is never a solution to our deficiencies, as it will bring more suffering to the people.

"(It is) not just to the people affected directly by the one, as we see, as we may see now, in this war in Ukraine, with the invasion of Russia," he noted.

He noted that people from other continents were also bearing the brunt. They are without food, while the prices of oil and all forms of energy continue to increase.

Hence, he suggested that dialogue and diplomacy could be used as ways to find solutions.
