All of them experienced mild symptoms, except one female patient, aged 20 years, in Jakarta, who experienced shortness of breath
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Health Ministry's spokesperson Mohammad Syahril reported that all 20 COVID-19 patients, who were earlier confirmed positive for having contracted the BA.4 and BA.5 Omicron subvariants in Indonesia, had recovered as of Thursday.

"All of them experienced mild symptoms, except one female patient, aged 20 years, in Jakarta, who experienced shortness of breath. Thus, she was categorized as moderately ill," he noted in a dialogue titled, "Beware, Omicron is back chasing Indonesia," which was broadcast virtually via the FMB9 YouTube channel on Thursday.

Syahril noted that as of June 14, 2022, the total number of BA.4 and BA.5 cases identified had reached 20, comprising two cases of BA.4 and 18 cases of BA.5

The spokesperson further remarked that of the 20 patients, three were foreigners, while the rest were Indonesians comprising one from Banten, four from Jakarta, and the other 12 from West Java. Some of the patients have not received the booster vaccine dose.

"Eight people are male patients, and the other 12 patients are females. One patient received inpatient care, and 19 patients received outpatient care," he expounded.

According to Syahril, the 12 patients in West Java are from three family clusters.

The spokesperson affirmed that the Ministry of Health is still collecting reports from the results of the Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) research from five provinces that were experiencing an increase in cases to track the transmission of the virus in these recovered patients. Those five provinces are Jakarta, Banten, West Java, Central Java, and East Java.

The first case of COVID-19 in Indonesia was confirmed in March 2020. According to data from the COVID-19 Handling Task Force, as of June 16, the nation had recorded 6,063,251 COVID-19 cases, 5,900,574 recoveries, and 156,670 deaths. (INE)
