Jakarta (ANTARA) - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati has asked all ranks of the Polytechnic of State Finance (PKN STAN) to help all Indonesian villages reach their sustainable development goal (SDG) targets.

"This is a real activity from PKN STAN, especially students, to implement the Tri Dharma (three missions) of universities," she said at the kick-off event for the cooperation between PKN STAN and the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration here on Wednesday.

PKN STAN, especially its students, must contribute to the welfare improvement and development of villages in Indonesia, whose number is currently pegged around 75 thousand, Indrawati added.

PKN STAN students can apply their knowledge so that villages understand and are able to achieve the 17 SDG goals.

The goals include zero poverty, zero hunger, access to quality education, gender equality, access to clean water, and affordable and clean energy.

Moreover, the government has disbursed more than Rp468 trillion to villages in the form of Village Funds from the state budget (APBN).

PKN STAN students must help ensure that the Village Funds are utilized to build and advance the welfare of the village community, she emphasized.

"We can help the village community to develop and prosper, especially with the Village Fund, which is continuously given from the APBN directly to villages," she said.

PKN STAN's commitment to supporting villages in achieving the SDG targets is expected to be realized through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration.

The cooperation agreement was signed by the secretary generals of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration. The cooperation will be implemented by PKN STAN.

PKN STAN Director Rahmadi Murwanto said that even though the cooperation was initiated by the polytechnic, in the future it would involve all elements of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration.
